New York, NY – It has been a successful senior year for right- hander
Allyshia West (Owen Sound, ON/West Hills Secondary) having been named the CUNY Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was named the CUNYAC Rookie of the Year in her first season of collegiate swimming and won CUNYAC Championship in both swimming and softball and now has been named the CUNYAC Pitcher of the Year for the third consecutive season as announced by the conference office on Monday.

New York, NY – The NCAA Softball Championship Bracket was announced on Monday and the Hunter College Hawks are headed to Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ where at the seventh seed will face #2 Mount Union College on Thursday in the opening round of the four day double elimination tournament.

Staten Island, NY – Senior right-hander Allyshia West (Owen Sound, ON/West Hills Secondary) pitched nine innings for her fifth consecutive complete game to lead the Hawks to a 5-4 victory in extra innings over the Baruch Bearcats to earn the softball program’s 12th CUNYAC Championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. West was also named the Tournament Most Valuable Player having pitched a total of 38 innings, striking out 24 batters and allowing just six earned runs.

Staten Island, NY– Although entering the day as the top seed, the Hawks didn’t remain on top for long as they dropped the first game against #3 Baruch 1-0, but were able to battle back in the second game to eliminate the defending champion #2 College of Staten Island in extra innings and then forced the deciding game seven with a 3-1 win over Baruch to close out the second day of the 2008 CUNY Athletic Conference Softball Championship Tournament at the CSI Softball Complex.

Pittsburgh, PA – The Hunter College women’s tennis season came to end on Saturday as the Hawks fell to the defending national champion Washington & Lee University 5-0 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament hosted by Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. Hunter concludes their 2007-08 campaign with a 21-3 overall record.
