The Empire State Summer Games is a yearly, state-wide competition that features many different athletic sporting events. The games use a regional qualifying system in which the state is broken down into six areas (Adirondack, Western, Central, Hudson Valley, New York City and Long Island). Upon finishing among the top spots in your region for your event, the athlete/team advances to the finals which feature the best competitors from each area.

Jacqueline Frank (Broad Channel, NY/Stella Maris) has been named as the CUNY Athletic Conference Player of the Year while four other Hawks received All-Star accolades as announced by the conference office.
Frank, a two-time All-Star, ended the season with a .427 batting average and .819 slugging percentage and collected 34 hits, 32 RBI, seven doubles and six home runs. Behind the plate, she posted a .972 fielding percentage, had 95 put outs and threw out four attempting to steal. Over her career, she has amassed 197 total bases and 11 home runs, both of which rank fourth all-time in the Hawk record books. Additionally, she leaves hunter with a .362 lifetime batting average, 120 hits and 92 RBI.

Stephanie Alves (Queens, NY/Francis Lewis) hit 1-for-2 with a run scored in a tough 10-2 loss to the third seeded Farmingdale State University in the opening round of the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference Metro Division Championship Tournament held on Thursday in Farmingdale, NY.

Staten Island, NY – After dropping a tough 7-3 game to the second-seeded College of Staten Island in the first game of the double-elimination round of the 2010 CUNY Athletic Conference softball championship tournament, the Hawks went to extra innings with John Jay College in the second game and were upset by the fourth-seeded Bloodhounds 7-5 thus bringing an early end to Hunter’s season.

Megan McKenna (Rockaway, NY/Midwood) hit a perfecr 4-for-4 with a season high five runs batted in to lead the Hawks to an 11-0 victory over York College in the quarterfinal round of the 2010 CUNY Athletic Conference Championship Tournament on Wednesday afternoon on Randall’s Island.
