The Empire State Summer Games is a yearly, state-wide competition that features many different athletic sporting events. The games use a regional qualifying system in which the state is broken down into six areas (Adirondack, Western, Central, Hudson Valley, New York City and Long Island). Upon finishing among the top spots in your region for your event, the athlete/team advances to the finals which feature the best competitors from each area.

New York, NY - The Hunter men's volleyball team completed the three-peat on Saturday, winning the program's third consecutive Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship [ECAC] in an intense 3-2 (30-18, 26-30, 30-24, 27-30, 18-16) match against the second-seeded New Jersey City University at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson.

Eric Barty (Jamaica, NY/Cardozo) each had team highs of nine kills, but their efforts wouldn’t be enough as the top-seeded and #4 nationally ranked Baruch College Bearcats capture their second consecutive CUNY Athletic Conference Championship 3-0 (30-25, 30-27, 30-27) on Friday night at the Hunter Sportsplex.

New York, NY - Freshman middle blocker Jeremy Grubler finished with a match high 12 kills, hitting .611 to help lead the Hawks to a 3-0 (30-11, 30-23, 30-15) victory over the third-seeded Lehman College in the semifinal round of the CUNY Athletic Conference Championship Tournament. The Hawks will now face the top-seeded Baruch Bearcats in the finals at 8:00 p.m. at the Hunter Sportsplex.

Jeremy Grubler (Bayside, NY/Bayside) each finished with a match high nine kills, with Grubler hitting .750 as the Hawks ended the season of the seventh-seeded Brooklyn College Bulldogs to advance to the semifinal round of the 2010 CUNY Athletic Conference Men’s Volleyball Championship Tournament with a 3-0 (30-15, 30-14, 30-14) victory at the Hunter Sportsplex Tuesday night.
