West Named Pitcher of the Year
Five Others Named All-Stars

New York, NY – It has been a successful senior year for right- hander Allyshia West (Owen Sound, ON/West Hills Secondary) having been named the CUNY Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was named the CUNYAC Rookie of the Year in her first season of collegiate swimming and won CUNYAC Championship in both swimming and softball and now has been named the CUNYAC Pitcher of the Year for the third consecutive season as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Following this weekend's championship tournament, West stands with 144 strikeouts this season, an ERA of 2.43and pitched 144 innings, the most by any pitcher in one season in the program's history. She ranks amongst the top three pitchers in Hunter's history and is undoubtedly one of the best pitchers that the CUNYAC has ever seen.

Joining West on the All-Star list this season are Catherine Alves, Stephanie Alves, Jacqueline Frank, Megan McKenna and Jennifer Damroth.

Junior second baseman Catherine Alves (Queens, NY/Francis Lewis) is named an all-star for the third straight season, second time on the first team. C. Alves has been one of the driving forces for this Hawk team, playing the role of a leader in and out of the dugout. Defensively, she has made some incredible plays including a game saving catch in Sunday's championship game. C. Alves is ranked in the top 15 in the conference in 11 categories.

Sophomore outfielder Stephanie Alves (Queens, NY/Francis Lewis) is named a first-team all-star for the first time and this is her second consecutive season earning all-star honors. S. Alves was solid at the plate and in the field for the Hawks, currently ranked in ten conference categories including fifth in fielding percentage (.982) after committing just one error in 40 games.

Sophomore catcher Jacqueline Frank (Broad Channel, NY/Stella Maris) became one of the elite players in the conference this season in being named a first team all-star. Frank is ranked in the top ten in ten categories in the conference including fifth in slugging percentage (.556) and fourth in fielding percentage (.984).

Freshman short stop Megan McKenna (Rockaway, NY/Midwood) had an impressive rookie campaign for the Hawks as she currently ranks in the top ten in six hitting categories including second in home runs with four. McKenna is hitting a team best .371 with a .534 slugging percentage. She also leads the team in runs scored (31) and is tied with Frank for most hits (43).

Junior outfielder Jennifer Damroth (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) is named an all-star for the second time in her career. Damroth currently leads the team in runs batted in and is ranked fifth in the conference with 28 RBI's. She also leads the conference in fielding percentage, currently at .993 percent.

The Hawks open up the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday when they take on Mount Union College at 2:00 p.m. on the campus of Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ.
