Farmingdale, NY – A shorthanded Hawks team battled to a scoreless tie after 90 minutes of soccer on Wednesday, but they would suffer an upset as the Rams of Farmingdale State scored just under eight minutes into the first overtime period to earn the 1-0 non-conference shutout victory on their home field.

Freshman Murtaza Munir (Staten Island, NY/Benjamin Banneker Academy) got the start in net for the Hawks, playing 97:54 with four saves and giving up one goal after facing 12 shots, while Farmingdale keeper Ricky Meschkow made fives saves while earning the shutout.

Hunter will resume conference play on Saturday, when they travel to the Bronx to face Lehman College for a Noon match.
