New York, NY – Sophomores Mallory Grubler (Bayside, NY/Cardozo) and Katina Boutis (Pilot Mountain, NC/Salem Academy) have been named as CUNY Athletic Conference First Team and Second Team All-Stars, receptively, as announced by the conference office this week.

Starting at middle blocker this season, Grubler finished the season hitting .228 with 237 kills and also played well at the net with 55 total blocks. Her block totals were the third highest in the conference, while her hitting percentage was seventh best. Her other season totals included 107 digs, 29 aces and 17 assists.

After playing libero and setter during her freshman season, Boutis returned to the Hawks in 2009 as the team’s primary setter and would end up recording the fifth highest single season assist total (883) in program history. She added to that with superb defensive play, racking up 214 digs and also had 43 kills, 40 aces and even squeezed 11 total blocks. She was also ranked second in the conference in assists.

The Hawks finished 2009 with a 20-17 record overall and were 8-1 in the CUNYAC.
