New York, NY – The Hunter women’s volleyball team’s season came to a close on Friday night to the hands of the City College of New York 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-20) in the semifinal round of the CUNY Athletic Conference Championship tournament held at Nat Holman Gymnasium.

The prior three seasons, it was the Hawks who ended the Beavers season, defeating them to win three consecutive championships, however this season the Beavers were able to get past the Hawks and would end up defeating Baruch College in the finals 3-0.

Hunter sophomore outside hitter Christine Luebcke (Jackson Heights, NY/Cardozo) led her team with 11 kills and then digs, while sophomore Rodesha Donaldson (Brooklyn, NY/Norman Thomas) added six kills, hitting .385.

Senior outside hitter Karolina Koguc's (Brooklyn, NY/New Utrecht) had seven kills, 19 digs and four total blocks in her final performance in a Hunter uniform. She closes out her four-year career with 720 kills, 203 aces, 138 total blocks and ranks fourth all-time with 1,015 digs in 130 matches.

The Hawks finish 2009 with a 20-17 record overall and were 8-1 in the CUNYAC, finishing in a tie for first place before tiebreakers pushed them to the third seed.
