Jersey City, NJ – Senior Nicole Schirmer (Selden, NY/Newfield) had the Hawks highest finish, placing ninth overall in sabre at 2009 National Intercollegiate Women’s Fencing Association (NIWFA) Christmas Tournament held at the Cobra Fencing Club in Jersey City, NJ on Sunday.

In foil, senior Christina Lio (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) finished 14th overall, advancing to the semifinals, while junior Amanda Birro (Centereach, NY/Centereach) also advanced to the semifinals in epee.

This was the team’s final competition of the semester. They return to action on January 17 when they are scheduled to take part in the Army Invitational at West Point.
