Jersey City, NJ – Sophomore Luis Cabrera (New York, NY/Leadership) set two personal bests on Saturday, finishing the 5000 meter run in 16:48.61 for fourth place and cross the line in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:37.17 to close out a successful day for the Hawks at the Saint Peter’s College/New Jersey Institute of Technology Invitational held at Lincoln Park in Jersey City, NJ.

Competing in the 800 meter run, sophomore James McArdle (Williston Park, NY/Herricks) finished sixth out of 24 competitors, crossing the finish line with a time of 2:06.42. Sophomore Gem Alegre (Hollis, NY/Martin Van Buren) finished at the top of his heat in the 200 meter dash, 16th overall with a time of 24.25 and also competed in the 4x400 Relay event, finishing third with a time of 3:58.07.

In the field, freshman Max Zamor (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) finished fourth out of nine jumpers in the triple jump, finishing with a max distance of 11.37. He also took seventh in the javelin with a throw of 34.81 and competed in the hammer throw, discuss and the 110 meter hurdles. Sophomore Hector Avalos (Staten Island, NY/Johannes Gutenberg) also competed in field events for the Hawks, placing sixth in shot put [9.59 meters] and the hammer throw [26.24 meters], seventh in discuss [30.59 meters], and tenth in javelin [28.99 meters].

The men’s outdoor team will be on the road again on Saturday, traveling to West Point, NY for the Army Invitational.
