Olisma & Hawks Excel At Saint Peter’s/NJIT Invitational

Jersey City, NJ – First-year runner Nancy Olisma (Brooklyn, NY/St. Saviour) had an impressive showing against Division I competition this past weekend, placing tenth out of 18 runners in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.51 and then finished the 200 meter dash at the top of her heat (7th overall) with a personal best of 29.51 at the Saint Peter's College/New Jersey Institute of Technology Invitational held at Lincoln Park in Jersey City, NJ.

In the 400 meter hurdles, freshman Mehida Alexandre (Brooklyn, NY/Sheepshead Bay) finished fourth, crossing the finish line at 1:23.50. Junior Iris Suazo-Kunhardt (Forest Hills, NY/Apostolado) took eight in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.09 and the 4x400 relay team placed third with a time of 1:04.97.

In the field, freshman Trisha Benjamin (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) finished tied for sixth in shot put with a max toss of 8.85 meters. She was also sixth in the discuss with a throw of 20.64, followed by Olisma in seventh with a toss of 18.91. Senior Valene Michel (St. Albans, NY/Newcomers) took fourth in the hammer throw with a max distance of 23.70, while Benjamin was right behind her at fifth place with a distance of 22.47.

The women's outdoor team will be on the road again on Saturday, traveling to West Point, NY for the Army Invitational.
