New York, NY – The Hunter men’s fencing team is set to open the 2009-10 season on the first of November, competing at the Temple Open in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as the team released its schedule on Tuesday afternoon.

After the Temple Open, the team will head to Poughkeepsie, NY for the Vassar Invitational on November 15. This will be followed by the first Middle Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association [MACFA] event of the season, hosted by Drew University in Madison, NJ on November 22.

The Hawks then head to the Sportsplex to face Army on Friday, December 4 as part of the 2009 Homecoming celebration. The Hawks will then make the trip up to West Point, NY for the annual Army Invitational on January 17.

On January 23, the Hawks will head south to Baltimore, Maryland for a MACFA event hosted by John Hopkins, before heading to Waltham, Mass. for a bout with Brandeis University on January 30. Hunter then closes out the regular season with a MACFA event in Newark, NJ, hosted by the New Jersey Institute of Technology on February 7.

The postseason opens up with the MACFA Championships on February 28, hosted by Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. Then the team will look to qualify for the NCAA Regional Tournament which is being hosted by Brandies University on March 13.
