Hoboken, NJ – Four Hawks earned wins, including three with pins, but in the end it would be the Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology who walk away with a 27-20 victory in a dual match held at Walker Gymnasium in Hoboken, NJ on Wednesday night.
Sophomore
James Mustakis (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) opened the match at 141 pounds with a 4:00 pin on junior Kyle Brisson to give Hunter a 6-0 lead. Then later in the match, trailing 18-6, junior
RJ Klotz (Ardsley, NY/Ardsley) earned a 5-3 decision over senior Justin Galati at 184 pounds for three team points.
Depsite the match being out of reach following losses at 197 and heavyweight which put Stevens up 27-9, the Hunter lightweights did not give up as freshman
Ariel Guerrero (Levittown, NY/MacArthur) pinned sophomore Brad Warren in 6:03 at 125 pounds and then junior
James Mustakis (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) outscored freshman Ryan Neugebauer 21-6 for a tech fall.
Hunter (2-9) will now head to the New York State Championship in Ithaca, NY this weekend.
