Box Score

New York, NY – Junior guard Rocco Rubino's (Brooklyn, NY/Archbishop Molloy) team high 17 points wouldn’t be enough as early shooting woes dug a whole the Hawks could never get out, giving up an 82-68 win to cross-town rival Baruch College in CUNY Athletic Conference men’s basketball action Friday night at the ARC.

After scoring the game’s first basket, the Hawks fell behind on the following possession and would find themselves trailing 13-6 a little over five minute into the half. Not able to get their offensive attack on track, the Hawks eventually found themselves trailing by as much as 23 points before cutting the deficit down to 19, 45-27, heading into the intermission.

Hunter then opened the second half with a 15-5 run to bring the game to within eight points with 15:21 left, but that would be the closest the Hawks got in the second half as Baruch quickly built the lead back up to double figures and coasted to a 14-point win.

Junior forward Maxwell Dubois (Hollywood, FL/Dillard) recorded his fifth double-double of the season, scoring 16 points along with ten rebounds, five steals and four assists, while freshman guard Eric Klingsberg (Queens, NY/Holy Cross) finished with 12 points in 28 minutes off the bench.

The Bearcats had four finish in double figures, led by junior guard Lionel Hilaire who lit the Hawks up for 18 points in the first half, shooting 4-of-7 from downtown, he would finish with a game high 24 points. Sophomore guard Chris Beauchamp added 17 points and seven rebounds, followed by sophomore guard Micky Abbatiello with 12 points and junior guard Arki Wisnu with ten points.

The Hawks (8-12, 4-5 CUNYAC) return home on Monday when they are scheduled to host Connecticut College for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference game before heading to the Klitgord Gymnasium in Brooklyn, NY for a conference matchup with N.Y. City Tech on Wednesday.
