New York, NY – Junior guard Megan McKenna (Rockaway, NY/Midwood) scored a game high 16 points, but the Hawks fell behind early and trailed the whole way through, dropping a 60-45 decision to the Bearcats of Baruch College in a CUNY Athletic Conference women’s basketball game Friday night at the ARC.

Despite shooting a dismal 25% on the night, the Hawks trailed by only six points, 48-42, with 4:16 left in the game. However, Baruch would use a 15-3 run to close out the game and improve to 9-0 in the CUNYAC, 16-4 overall.

Junior guard Shamar Stewartson (Springfield Gardens, NY/Far Rockaway) was the only other Hawk to score in double-digits, scoring 11 points, while senior center Juanita Whyms (Far Rockaway, NY/Stella Maris) grabbed a team high 17 rebounds along with nine points.

For the Bearcats, junior center Megan Bouwens scored a team high 14 points and ripped down a game high 20 rebounds, she was followed by junior guard Monique Salmon who added ten points as the only other member of her team to score in double figures.

Hunter (11-8, 6-3 CUNYAC) will be back in action on Sunday, when they head down to Pomona, NJ for a 2:00 p.m. non-conference game with Richard Stockton (9-9) before heading to Brooklyn, NY on Wednesday for a conference matchup with N.Y. City Tech.
