Pomona, NJ – Senior center Juanita Whyms (Far Rockaway, NY/Stella Maris) scored a game high 19 points along with 12 rebounds, but the Hawks were never able to recover after a first half comeback effort was cut short as they drop a 74-58 non-conference game to Richard Stockton on Sunday afternoon in Pomona, NJ.

Richard Stockton held a small lead for a majority of the first half, but after the Hawks cut the game to just three points with 1:43 left in the first half, the Ospreys answered back with five quick points to capture a 37-29 lead at the intermission. The Ospreys then owned the second half, expanding their lead to 25 points before earning the 16-point win.

Junior guard Shamar Stewartson (Springfield Gardens, NY/Far Rockaway) finished today’s game with 14 points and four assists, followed by junior guard Megan McKenna (Rockaway, NY/Midwood) who added 12 points and six rebounds.

The Ospreys were led by sophomore guard Nancy White who scored a team high 16 points, shooting 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Fellow sophomore guard Aliyah Nelson added 12 points and freshman guard Che’Na Thompson scored 11 points.

Hunter (11-9, 6-3 CUNYAC) is back in action on Wednesday when they head to Brooklyn, NY for a conference matchup with N.Y. City Tech at 5:00 p.m.
