New York, NY – The Hunter wrestling team finished up the weekend with a 1-2 record, defeating Worcester Polytechnic Institute 43-11, after taking a 35-12 loss to #17 Williams and a close 23-14 loss to Roger Williams at the annual Metro/New England Challenge hosted by Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

Full Results from the win over Worcester Polytech were not available at the time of this release and will be posted as soon as they are made available.

Sophomore Sean Messina (West Islip, NY/West Islip) continued his impressive season with a 6-0 decision on Dylan Rittenburg of Williams and then pinned Martin Mitchell of Roger Williams in 2:53. Senior Vitaly Simkin (Brooklyn, NY/Sheepshead Bay) also picked up two wins, pinning Rob Brackup of Williams in 1:39 at 165 pounds and then went down to 157 against Rogers Williams to earn a 6-4 decision on Kyle D’Urso.

Back in action for the Hawks this weekend was junior Eduardo Delgado (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach) who had been out of action the last month due to an injury. Against Williams, Delgado earned a 3-2 overtime victory over Carl Breitenstein at 157 pounds and then grabbed a 3-1 decision against Kyle Rodgers of Roger Williams at 165 pounds.

Hunter will return home on Wednesday, when they are scheduled to host Centenary College and Yeshiva University for a tri-match starting at 5:00 p.m. There will also be a celebration of the life Arkadiy Levitin, a former Hunter wrestling who suddenly passed away last week.
