Danbury, CT – Sophomore Marian Wu (Flushing, NY/Stuyvesant) recorded career highs in the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle events, while placing second in both events during a 157-115 loss to Western Connecticut in the Hawks final dual meet of the season on Friday in Danbury, Connecticut.

Wu finished the 100-yard freestyle in 1:01.58, surpassing her prior best 1:01.88 which she set earlier in the week against CSI. She then finished the 200-yard freestyle in 2:19.35, which beat out her career best time set against Baruch earlier in the month.

Senior Heather Alvord (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) picked up the Hawks only individual first place finish on the day in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 30.58. The team’s only other first place came in the 200-yard freestyle relay event where the team of Kimberly Happich, Wu, Olga Kovalkova and Alvord finished in 1:53.98.

The Hawks close out the regular season with a 5-9 record and will now direct their focus towards the CUNY Athletic Conference Championship which kicks off on Thursday, February 4 and runs through Saturday with all three days of competition taking place at the APEX on the campus of Lehman College in the Bronx, NY.
