Bronx, NY – Senior Heather Alvord (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) earned her third individual gold medal with a 2:15.81 performance in the 200-yard backstroke and grabbed bronze in the 400-yard freestyle relay to help the Hawks to a second place overall finish on the final day of competition at the CUNY Athletic Conference women’s swimming championship held at the APEX in the Bronx, NY.

Sophomore Marian Wu (Flushing, NY/Stuyvesant) also won her fifth medal at the championship, taking bronze in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:01.13. Wu then took home another bronze as part of the 400-yard freestyle relay team.

In addition, Alvord was named the conference Swimmer of the Year for the second consecutive season. In her three seasons at Hunter, Alvord set four individual conference championship meet records, was a member of three record breaking relay teams and currently owns three individual Hunter program records along with two relay records.

Hunter will now begin preparing for the Metropolitan Conference Championships which begin on Friday, February 19 and run through Sunday, February 21.
