New York, NY – The Hunter women’s basketball team earned the #3 seed in the eight-team 2009-10 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metropolitan Tournament after finishing the season with a 17-11 overall record and now will host the #6 New York University (13-12) on Wednesday, March 3 at 6:00 p.m. at the Hunter Sportsplex.

These two teams met back on December 7 in a thrilling game that went to two overtime periods before the Hawks earned a 70-64 victory, their first over the Violets since 1983. Since that time, the Hawks finished the season as the second best team in the CUNY Athletic Conference in the regular and post season, while the Violets finished fifth in the University Athletic Association.

Stevens Institute of Technology earned the top seed in the ECAC Metro Tournament. The top remaining seed after Wednesday's first round games will host both the semifinals on Saturday and the championship game on Sunday.
