Stevenson, MD – Sophomore outside hitter
Eric Barty (Jamaica, NY/Cardozo) had a match high 28 kills, while hitting .438 along with 12 digs to lead the Hawks to a five-set (30-25, 24-30, 28-30, 30-27, 15-12), comeback win over Division II Pfeiffer University on Saturday afternoon in Stevenson, Maryland.
Junior outside hitter
Christopher Newcomb (Waimea, Kauai, HI/Waimea) provided 18 kills for the Hawks, while senior setter
Zacarias Ripoll-Cid (Puerto Plata, D.R./John F. Kennedy) tallied 61 assists along with three kills and four total blocks.
In their first match of the day, the Hawks dropped a three set (30-24, 32-30, 30-22) match to Medaille College. In that match, Barty finished with ten kills, followed by Newcomb and freshman middle blocker
Braien Otsla (Brooklyn, NY/New Utrecht) each recording nine kills.
Hunter (19-9, 11-2 CUNYAC) will be back in action on Tuesday, when they return to the Sportsplex for their final home match of the regular season, facing Medgar Evers College at 6:00 p.m.
