New York – Freshmen middle blockers Braien Otsla (Brooklyn, NY/New Utrecht) and Jeremy Grubler (Bayside, NY/Bayside) each finished with a match high nine kills, with Grubler hitting .750 as the Hawks ended the season of the seventh-seeded Brooklyn College Bulldogs to advance to the semifinal round of the 2010 CUNY Athletic Conference Men’s Volleyball Championship Tournament with a 3-0 (30-15, 30-14, 30-14) victory at the Hunter Sportsplex Tuesday night.

Junior outside hitter Christopher Newcomb (Waimea, Kauai, HI/Waimea) added eight kills and six digs, while freshman middle blocker John Gemegah (Jackson Heights, NY/Aviation) ad seven kills and three assisted blocks.

Sophomore outside hitter Mohamed Taman was the high man for the Bulldogs, finishing with seven kills, while senior middle hitter Konstantin Batura pitched in with four kills and freshman setter Guillermo Melosevich had 17 assists.

Hunter will now meet the winner of #3 Lehman/#6 City Tech on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. in the B4 gymnasium at the Sportsplex, while the top-seeded Baruch College will face the winner of #4 York/#5 CCNY in the B3 gymnasium at the Sportsplex. Then the winner of those two matches will meet in the finals at 8:00 p.m. in the B3 gym.
