Men’s Track and Field Finish Seventh At Rider Invitational

Lawrenceville, N.J. - Competing against Division 1 and Division 2 schools the men's track and field team was able to score eight points to finish in seventh place on Saturday at the Rider Invitational on the campus of Rider University.  Half of the points came from the 4X800 meter run relay team who finished in fifth place with a time of 9:02.96.

Individually freshman Lorenzo Daley (Ocho Rios, Jamaica/George Washington Carver High School For The Sciences) finished the 200 meter run in fifth place with a time of 25.65 seconds to score two points. He was followed by fellow freshman Ryan Baxter (New York, NY/Hunter) who finished in sixth place with a season best time of 26.66 seconds to score one point. The scoring was wrapped up by sophomore Max Zamor (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) who finished in sixth place in the shot put with a throw of 11.52 meters.

 Freshman Jose Miranda (Staten Island, NY/Xavier) led a quartet of Hawk runners in the 1500 meter run with a season best time of 4:34.57. He was followed by junior James McArdle (Williston Park, NY/Herricks) with a time 4:47.59, freshman Joseph Papa (Pittsburgh, PA/Pittsburgh Central Catholic) with a time of 4:48.78, and sophomore Jeffrey Castano (Little Neck, NY/Fort Hamilton) with a time of 5:07.40.  McArdle was able to finish 12th of 15 runners in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:12.23  while Papa finished 14th out of 21 runners in the 5k run with a time of 17:13.69.

Sophomore Nikoloz Rekhviashvili (Forest Hills, NY/Forest Hills) continued his impressive season finishing in eight place in the 110 high hurdles with a season best time of 17.70 seconds. Rekhviashvili also ran a season best in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.58 to finish in ninth place.

The Hawks will next be in action on Sunday when they will compete in the New York Relays at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island.
