New Paltz, NY – Competing in their final matches before heading to the NCAA Regional Tournament in two weeks, the women's tennis team grabbed three victories including a 4-3 win over Mount Saint Mary College to finish third overall at the New Paltz Tournament on Saturday.
The Hawks opened the tournament with a 4-3 win against Western Connecticut, and then defeated Brockport 6-1, before dropping their first match of the day, 5-2 to Cortland State. This setup the third place match with Mount Saint Mary, where senior
Evgeniya Kim (Flushing, NY/Cardozo) defeated Gabriella Murphy-Goldberg 6-4, sophomore
Jennifer Kraham (East Northport, NY/Commack) beat Lindsay Searle 6-1, senior
Veronica Efimenko (Belarus/#181) downed Caitlin Giordano 6-2 and sophomore
Ericka Jaramillo (Jamaica, NY/Townsend Harris) clinched the match with a 6-4 win over Annmarie Llewellyn.
The Hawks will now prepare for the NCAA Regional Tournament, with the location and opponents to be released in the coming weeks leading up to the first day of competition on May 14.
