New Haven, CT. –The Hawks had season best times in seven different events on Sunday as the women's track and field team competed in the Yale Springtime Invitational in New Haven, CT. This was the Hawks final tune-up meet before the CUNYAC Championships next weekend.
Freshman Trisha Townsend (Hempstead, NY/Uniondale) led the way with season best times in the 100 and 200 meter runs. In the 100 meter run she finished in 14.89 seconds and in the 200 meter run she fished in 30.69 seconds. Sophomore Mehida Alexandre (Brooklyn, NY/Sheepshead Bay) had a season best time of 18.32 second in the 100 meter high hurdles. Fellow sophomore Stephanie Reyes (Bronx, NY/Pelham Prep) had a season best time of 3:00.64 in the 800 meter run. Freshman Heidi Rim (Bayside, NY/Cardozo) had a season best throw in the shot put of 23'5.5”.
Freshman Jennifer Arozamena (Hoboken, NJ/Woodbridge) had a great day by running a season best time of 5:21.69 in the 1500 meter run and also running a season best 11:48.78 in the 3000 meter run. Also in the 3000 meter run with season best times were freshman Johanna Keilwitz (Wolmirstedt, Germany/Sportgymnasium Halle) with a time of 12:04.64, freshman Natoya Bromfield (Brooklyn, NY/LaGuardia) with a time of 12:59.11, and sophomore Michelle Munevar (Corona, NY/John Bowne) with a time of 14:53.08.
The Hawks will next be in action on Sunday May 2 as they compete in the CUNYAC Championship at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island.
