Men’s & Women’s Tennis NCAA Brackets Announced

New York, NY – The NCAA Division III Men's & Women's Tennis Selection Committees released the seeding and brackets for the 2010 Championship Tournaments and Hunter's men will be heading up to Middlebury, Vermont where they will face Skidmore on Friday, while the women will travel down to Fredericksburg, Virginia to face Mary Washington University in their first round matchup.

There were 42 teams selected to the men's tournament, which the Hawks (15-3) will be making their debut in after winning the program's first CUNYAC Championship since 1988 last Thursday with a 5-1 win over the College of Staten Island. The Hawks opponent, Skidmore College, earned an at-large bid after going 9-10 this season and finished third in the Liberty League following a 7-2 win over Hobart College. The winner of Friday's match will play the host Middlebury College on Saturday and then the winner of that match will face the winner of MIT vs. Stevens for a chance to move into the Quarterfinal round in Oberlin, Ohio.

In the women's tournament, 48 teams were selected for a chance to compete for a national championship. The Hawks (14-7) will be making their fourth consecutive NCAA Regional Tournament appearance after they earned the program's tenth straight CUNYAC Championship back in November with a 5-4 win over Baruch College. Their opponent, Mary Washington, finished the season with a 15-7 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament after defeating Salisbury 7-2 to win the Capital Athletic Conference. The winner of this match will meet the region's top seed, The College of New Jersey in the second round. The overall winner of the region will then move into the quarterfinal round which is also being hosted in Fredericksburg, VA.
