Flushing, NY – A few days before they head down to Virginia to open up the 2010 NCAA Regional Tournament, the Hunter women's tennis team faced Mount Saint Mary College on Monday night the Hawks fell to the Blue Knights 6-3 at the USTA Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.
At first doubles, the team of senior
Evgeniya Kim (Flushing, NY/Cardozo) and sophomore
Jennifer Kraham (East Northport, NY/Commack) defeated Gabriela Murphy-Goldberg and Annmarie Llewllyn 8-0. The in singles action,
Kim defeated Murphy-Goldberg 6-4, 6-2 at first singles, while
Kraham won her second singles match 6-1, 6-3 over Lindsay Searle.
The Hawks will now begin preparing for the first round of the NCAA Regional Tournament where they will face the host school, Mary Washington University on either May 13 or 14. Mary Washington University, located in Fredericksburg, Virginia, finished the season with a 15-7 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament after defeating Salisbury 7-2 to win the Capital Athletic Conference. Hunter advances to their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament after winning the program's tenth straight title this past fall when they defeated Baruch College 5-4.
