Women’s Season Comes to an End at NCAA Regional

Fredericksburg, VA – The Hunter women's tennis team had their season come to an end on Friday morning as they fell 5-0 to #18 Mary Washington after making the program's fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Regional Tournament which was held at the home of the 2010 championships, Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Mary Washington jumped out to a 3-0 lead after winning all three doubles matches. Then in singles, Cassie Bowman defeated sophomore Nora Milman (Brooklyn, NY/Fort Hamilton) 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles and then at second singles, sophomore Jennifer Kraham (East Northport, NY/Commack) fell to Katie Schafer 6-3, 6-0.

At the time of decision, senior Evgeniya Kim (Flushing, NY/Cardozo) was leading Courtney Goimarac 6-3, 1-0, but the Hawks trailed in the other three remaining singles matches.

Kim closes out a stellar four-year career at Hunter as the program's all-time leader in singles wins with a record of 66-8, doubles victories with a 60-18 record, combined wins with a 126-26 record, and earlier in her career set the mark for most wins through multiple seasons, going 29-0 from April 18, 2007 through September 26, 2008. The four-time CUNYAC Player of the Year also holds records at Hunter for most singles wins in a season, combined wins in a season, consecutive wins in a season and season win percentage. In addition, she finished with a 19-0 singles record in regular season CUNYAC matches and was a perfect 8-0 in conference tournament singles matches.
