New York, NY – The Hunter women’s outdoor track & field team, led by sophomore Nancy Olisma (Brooklyn, NY/St. Saviour) who won a team high four medals, had their highest finish at the CUNY Athletic Conference Championship meet since 2006, placing second overall with 141 points on an extremely hot afternoon at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island Saturday afternoon.

Olisma recorded the second most points amongst all senior college women after taking first in the shot put with a season best 9.51 meters, second in the hammer, second in the 400 meter hurdles, and placed third in discus and the 400 meter dash.

Freshman Melanie Boyce (New York, NY/Bishop Ford Central) was impressive in her CUNYAC Championship debut, grabbing a silver medal in the triple jump with a top distance of 10.13 meters. In the high jump, Boyce would end up finishing second with a max height of 1.45 meters after she was forced into a “jump off” with the eventual first place finisher from York College.

Freshman Heidi Rim (Bayside, NY/Cardozo) took home silver in the discus after recording personal best throw of 22.69 meters and was also fifth in the hammer with a top toss of 19.23 meters.

Competing in the 10000 meter run, Hunter’s marathon runner, Jennifer Arozamena (Hoboken, NJ/Woodbridge), finished just under three minutes ahead of the second place finisher with a time of 43:11.70 to earn the team’s final gold medal of the day. Freshman Johanna Keilwitz (Wolmirstedt, Germany/Sportgymnasium Halle) finished third in the race, crossing the finish line in 49:02.02 for her first career medal.

Freshman Jacklyn Henderson (Oyster Bay, NY/Oyster Bay) took home silver in the 5000 meter run, finishing in 22:00.91, followed by Arozamena who came in 11 seconds later for third place. Team veteran Mehida Alexandre (Brooklyn, NY/Sheepshead Bay) earned two bronze medals, finishing the 100 meter dules in 18.10 and then the 400 meter hurdles in 1:15.48. Freshman Lizzy Mahoney (Auburn, NY/Auburn) rounded this out with a bronze medal in the 1500 meter run, crossing the finish line in 5:29.57.
