Dr. Charles Brown served Hunter College athletics from 1970 to 1989. In his first decade, he was the head coach for the varsity wrestling team, which won every CUNY Championship they entered. In 1981, he became the Athletic Director and was attributed with guiding the overall program to a level that dominated the CUNY Conference.
