Joe Vogel was a multi-time CTC medalist and dominated the track and cross country scene in the program’s early days at Hunter. In 1956, he became a CTC Cross Country Champion and was a silver medalist in 1957. In Track, Vogel won the 1956 CTC 2-Mile Championship and won a silver medal in 1957. A team captain in 1957, he was the top competitor in the one and two mile runs during his three-years of participation. At the time of his graduation, Vogel held school records in the one and two miles runs as well as best times in Cross Country. As of 2008, his time of 26:18.80 in an 8k race at Van Cortlandt Park is the tenth fastest time in the program’s history.
