Bernard was a four-year standout for the Hawks softball program, earning CUNYAC All-Star honors in 1983 and 1984, CUNYAC Most Valuable Players honors in 1985 and played a key role in leading the Hawks to a CUNYAC Championship in 1984. In addition to her softball achievements, Bernard was also a three-year women’s volleyball standout, helping the hawks to a CUNYAC Championship in 1985. Bernard became the first recipient of the CUNYAC Scholar-Athlete Award in 1987 and also named the Hunter College Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 1985.
