Playing on pioneering teams during the early era of Hunter College women’s basketball, Marion Weber was regarded as one of the top point guards of the time. She ran a powerful offense and contributed impressive defense for Hunter, which posted a combined record of 26-3-1 during her career. That total included the first undefeated season (10-0-1) in school history in 1940-41. The team recorded its impressive victory total against the top opponents in the New York metropolitan area. She also served as captain of the women’s field hockey team and was a key player on the women’s tennis team. A trailblazer in the field of gender equity, she later went on to serve as women’s athletic director at Columbia University.
