Monplaisir ushered in a new era of success for Hunter’s women’s fencing program in the 1980’s. A two-time NCAA All-American, Monplaisir captured NIWFA Championships in 1983 and 1985. She was also the first Hunter student-athlete to win the Southland Olympian Award for academic and athletic achievement. She was also a four-time Olympian, representing the United States in Fencing at the 1984 games in Los Angeles, California, 1988 games in Seoul, Korea, the 1992 games in Barcelona, Spain and the 1996 games in Atlanta, Georgia.
