2009 SAAC Battle of the Sexes

New York, NY – The Hunter College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee presented its annual “Battle of the Sexes” which pits Hawk men's teams against the women's teams in various recreational activities with the coveted “Battle of the Sexes” Trophy on the line.

This year, the event opened up with an old-fashioned cookie eating contest. Three competitors on each team had to finish two cookies without the use of their hands. The women's team was represented by two softball players and a swimmer, while on the men's side it was the fencing team filling in all three spots. The fencers would win hands down, finishing the six cookies with ease and giving the men's team the initial advantage.

Next up, the student-athletes minds were tested in a word challenge which the men's team was able to squeak away with a win. The third event was a classic game of 5-on-5 dodge ball, the one event usually dominated by the wrestling team and this year was no different as the men's team wins their third straight event.

Trailing 3-0 on the day, the women brought their ringers in for the whiffleball challenge, having the entire softball team beat up on the men's squad and earn the team's first victory of the day.

The final two events were melon ball and “Steal the Bacon”, which were closely contested, but in the end the men's team pulled away with the victory and clinched the coveted “Battle of the Sexes” Trophy for the third straight year.

Special thanks go to the SAAC committee for their hard work in putting together the event.
