New York, NY – The CUNY Athletic Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee [SAAC] hosted Kids' Sports Day at the Hunter College Sportsplex on Sunday, March 29 as a part of their mission to engage the community and promote good sportsmanship.

Children from various programs of the "I Have a Dream" Foundation in New York City joined over thirty CUNYAC student-athletes in a day of fun and sports. Members of the SAAC held clinics and drills to introduce and expose the youngsters to different sports, and conducted a discussion session about college life, being a student-athlete and options after school.

"The CUNY SAAC Kids' Sports Day has been a great opportunity for our Dreamers," said Ray Llanos, the director of the Melrose II “I Have a Dream” Foundation, one of the youth groups involved. “They got to participate and try new sports while getting to meet cool students that they can identify with."

The event was planned and coordinated by Catherine Alves (Hunter SAAC, President), Taya Zuyeva (City College, Women's Volleyball), and Safiya Solomon (Hunter SAAC, Treasurer), and was fully staffed by student-athletes across the whole CUNY Athletic Conference. Hunter College was represented by Catherine Alves (Women's Softball), Stephanie Alves (Women's Softball), Jennifer Damroth (Women's Softball), Jackie Frank (Women's Softball), Carla McGregor (Women's Swimming), and Safiya Solomon (Women's Volleyball).
