2010 Best Value Hunter Is CUNY NCAA ECAC CUNYAC Logo Positive Coaching Alliance

New York, NY – Senior second baseman Catherine Alves (Queens, NY/Francis Lewis) has been named the 2009 CUNY Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Year as selected by the head coaches and announced by the conference office. Also earning a major postseason award is head coach Cagla Boz who is named the Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Alves, a three-time all-star, finished the year with a .325 batting average and was outstanding in the field with a .944 fielding percentage. In her four-years with the Hawks, she was won two CUNYAC Tournament Championships, three regular season championships, and ranks in the top ten all-time in the program’s history in singles, runs scored, stolen bases and hits.

Boz guided the Hawks to a 19-23 overall record and a 10-2 conference record while winning the program’s 14th regular season championship. The Hawks also the Hawks picked up some impressive victories including a 6-5 comeback victory over #20 Ramapo College.
