New York, NY – Freshman
Max Zamor (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) has been named the CUNY Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Year after earning Most Valuable Performer honors at this year’s CUNYAC Championship meet where he earned 36 points for the Hawks, the most of all male participants.
Zamor competed in eight events during the two-day championship meet, which earned valuable points for the Hawks who finished second overall, missing first by just seven points. He won silver medals in the shot put and javelin, and also won bronze in the high jump and discuss.
In addition, four other Hawks earned all-star status for their efforts at this year’s meet. Sophomore
Luis Cabrera, one of the team’s top performers in both indoor and outdoor and this year’s men’s cross country CUNYAC MVP, earned gold medals in the 5,000 and 10,000 meter run. Freshman hurdler
Nikoloz Rekhviashvili won gold in both the 110 and 400 meter hurdles, while junior
Oscar Dotti earned his all-star status by winning gold in the high jump and silver in both the 110 and 400 meter hurdles. Rounding out this year’s all-stars for the Hawks was Sophomore
Benjamin Chateauvert who won a silver medal in the 1,500 meter run and also competed in the 800 meter run and the 4x400 meter relay.
