New York, NY – Senior catcher,
Jacqueline Frank (Broad Channel, NY/Stella Maris) has been named as the CUNY Athletic Conference Player of the Year while four other Hawks received All-Star accolades as announced by the conference office.
Frank, a two-time All-Star, ended the season with a .427 batting average and .819 slugging percentage and collected 34 hits, 32 RBI, seven doubles and six home runs. Behind the plate, she posted a .972 fielding percentage, had 95 put outs and threw out four attempting to steal. Over her career, she has amassed 197 total bases and 11 home runs, both of which rank fourth all-time in the Hawk record books. Additionally, she leaves hunter with a .362 lifetime batting average, 120 hits and 92 RBI.
Junior outfielder, Stephanie Alves (Queens, NY/Francis Lewis) was named a first team All-Star, her third nod since becoming a Hawk in 2007. During the season, she batted .421 and led the team in hits with 40 and tied for total bases with 59. In her career, she collected 136 hits, 54 RBI, seven home runs, scored 99 runs, stole 33 bases in 35 attempts and recorded a .983 fielding percentage.
Juniors, short stop Megan McKenna (Rockaway, NY/Midwood) and Stephanie Damroth (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon), along with sophomore third base/catcher Arielle Zieff (Staten Island, NY/Port Richmond) round out the awards with second team All-Star kudos. McKenna had a team high of 61 assists, 40 runs scored and eight stolen bases to go along with her .381 batting average while Zieff was second on the team in hits, RBI and on base percentage with 39, 26 and .513 respectively to compliment her .411 batting average.
Damroth pitched the second no-hitter of her career in a five inning, 12-0 romp over Lehman on March 27 while striking out 11 in the process. On the year, she recorded a 3.57 ERA over 98 innings of work, struck out 96, collected eight wins and held batters to just a .260 batting average.
The Hawks close out the season as they take part in the ECAC Tournament on Wednesday, March 12 when they travel to Farmingdale, NY to take on the number three seeded Farmingdale State Rams at 3:30 pm.
