Hawks in Second After Day One at CUNYAC Championships

The Hunter College women's swimming team settled into second place with 251 points following the first round of competition at the 2012 CUNYAC Championships held at the Apex Center.

Hunter claimed a second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay as Marian Wu, Courtney McEvoy Lee, Sara Pazmino and Gloria Reyna all collaborated on the finish in 1:51.61.

The 500 yard freestyle race saw a pair of Hawks garner top-five finishes as Briana DiGiore took second place in 5:59.26 and Ivanna Tellez finished fourth in 6:17.10.

Pazmino claimed third place in the 200 yard individual medley with a 2:31.78 timestamp ahead of Wu who finished fourth in 2:34.65.

Baruch swimmers swept the top two spots in the 50  yard freestyle, however Jennifer Dzurita edged into third place in 27.21 ahead of teammate Charlotte Collazo who swam into fourth with a time of 27.67.

Finally, the Hawks claimed yet another second place finish in the final relay event of the day, with a time of 4:33.30 in the 400 yard medley relay as Chryzl Goco, Pazmino, McEvoy Lee and Dzurita all combined for the finish.

The Hawks return to action with day two slated for Friday, February 3rd at 1pm. The finals are set for Saturday, February 4th at 9am.
