Solomons Double-Double Tames Panthers

Old Westbury, NY – Senior outside hitter Safiya Solomon (Mount Vernon, NY/Pelham Memorial) recorded a double-double with ten kills and 18 digs as the Hawks extended their win streak to ten games by defeating the Panthers of the College at Old Westbury 3-0 (30-15, 30-25, 30-25) Wednesday evening in a non-conference volleyball match at the Clark Athletic Center in Old Westbury, NY.

Senior middle blocker Shanita Scott (Pelham, NY/Pelham Memorial) also finished with ten kills for the Hawks, while junior outside hitter/setter Amanda Kamm (Dix Hills, NY/Hills West) had seven kills and 18 assists.

Senior middle hitter Janera Johnson (Far Rockaway, NY/Hillcrest) recorded a team high seven kills for the Panthers and sophomore outside hitter Lauren Fischetti (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) tallied 11 digs.

The Hawks return to action on Friday when they compete in the first day of a two-day seven-team tournament hosted by SUNY Cortland. The Hawks will compete against four of the seven teams with matches taking place at 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and then Noon and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
