Mission Statement
Hunter College Recreation will provide a variety of recreational opportunities that contribute to the physical, social, mental and emotional health of all members of the campus community. We are dedicated to continually developing broad and diversified programs, activities and facility space in order to increase positive use of leisure time and to instill a commitment to a lifetime of fitness and recreation among our users.
Vision Statement
The recreational programs will be a desirable and successful part of the educational and life maturation process. Our interests are for the welfare of the Hunter College community who seek recreational and physical benefits to complement their lives. We are reinforcing the development of healthy lifestyles and enjoyable experiences for all levels of skill and fitness.
In support of the mission the program subscribes to the following goals:
- Provide the Hunter College community with varied voluntary, constructive and satisfying leisure time outlets from which to choose.
- Provide opportunities for physical, social and mental development through a varied program of structured and unstructured recreational activities.
- Provide an opportunity to develop overall fitness through participation in various recreational activities.
- Provide an opportunity for individuals to develop the feelings of cooperation, camaraderie, and loyalty to a group.
- Provide an opportunity for individuals to develop positive sportsmanship and integrity with regard to rules, officials, and opponents.
- Provide opportunities for every individual, regardless of skill or fitness level to enjoy the experience of voluntary participation.
- Enhance leadership capabilities, and guide participation in shaping their social and ethical values.
- Provide an opportunity for the development of sport skills that will serve participants in the future.
- Provide opportunities for the development of positive attitudes toward recreational activity throughout life.
- Hire and train the best possible recreational support staff.
- Provide a clean, safe, and appropriate environments in recreational facilities at all times.
