Tennis Takes Down Roadrunners, 6-3

Queens, NY – Freshman Elizabeth Feldman (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood), who earned CUNYAC Rookie of the Week honors for the third time on Tuesday, improved her season mark to 23-0 with wins on Wednesday during a 6-3 Hawk victory over New Jersey Athletic Conference foe Ramapo College at the USTA Center in Queens, NY.

Junior Monica Calungcagin (Valley Cottage, NY/Nyack) earned a 6-0, 6-0 win, competing at first singles for just the third time this season. She is now 10-0 in singles play and teamed up with Feldman for her ninth doubles victory of the season. The Hawks also got victories at fourth singles and first and second doubles.

Junior Jennifer Finaldi (West Milford, NJ/West Milford) and senior Ashley Wnek (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) picked up the Roadrunners only singles victories of the day at fifth and sixth singles. Wnek also won third doubles alongside sophomore Kristine Austria (Jersey City, NJ/McNair Academic), 8-1.

After tonight's win, the Hawks improve to 13-0 overall and have gone 4-0 versus New Jersey Athletic Conference competition. The Hawks are also 7-0 in the CUNYAC, clinching their 8th consecutive regular season title and the top seed in next week's Hospital for Special Surgery/CUNYAC Women's Tennis Tournament. Ramapo falls to 8-7 on the year.

Originally scheduled to open the season, the Hawks will now close out the regular season with a conference match against Lehman on Friday, October 19 at the Apex in the Bronx, NY.
