New York, NY – Freshman guard
Megan McKenna (Rockaway, NY/Midwood) led the Hawks in scoring for the second straight game, netting 21 points in a 72-53 loss to Greensboro College in the consolation game of the Hunter College Tip-Off Tournament Saturday afternoon at the Hunter Sportsplex in New York, NY.
McKenna was named to the All-tournament team after tallying 33 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in two games. Pride freshman forward
Danielle Duncan (Greensboro, NC/Ragsdale) also earned a spot on the All-Tournament team, scoring a tournament high 47 points and added 25 rebounds against Bridgewater and Hunter. Against the Hawks on Saturday,
Duncan led the Pride with 19 points and ten rebounds.
The Hawks came out strong in the first half, exchanging leads with the Pride and would trail by only a bucket heading into the half. However,
Duncan owned the second half, burying 15 of her 19 points in the half en route to the Pride's first victory of the season. Sophomore guard
ChelseaThomas (Durham, NC/Apex) added to the Pride's totals with 15 points, while sophomore guard
Rebekah McLeod (Houston, TX/St. Thomas Episcopal) scored 12 as the third Greensboro player to score in double figures.
Sophomore forward
Andrea Buckham (Jamaica, NY/Flushing) pulled down a game high 11 rebounds and also added nine points, while sophomore guard
Shay Branch-El-Vielot (Cambria Heights, NY/Canarsie) also scored nine points for the Hawks.
The Hawks return to action in two weeks, on Wednesday, November 28 when they travel to Madison, NJ to face FDU-Florham for a 6:00 p.m. game.
