New York, NY – Freshman guard
Brittany Powell (Tinton Falls, NJ/Monmouth Regional) scored a game high 19 points in 16 minutes off the bench to lead the #14 Cougars of Kean University over the Hunter Hawks 89-26 in women's basketball action Thursday evening in New York, NY.
The Hawks opened the game with two quick baskets to take a 4-3 lead, but Kean would answer back with a staggering 33-5 run that spanned ten minutes of play. Hunter trailed 47-16 at the half and would score only ten more points in the second, giving up their worst loss of the season.

Melissa Beyruti (Union City, NJ/Union Hill) added 16 points and five steals, while sophomore center
Chari' Cooper (West Milford, NJ/West Milford) finished with 10 points and a game high nine rebounds. Sophomore forward
Andrea Buckham (Queens, NY/Flushing) was the leading scorer the Hawks with 12 points.
Hunter returns to action on Sunday, December 30 when they travel to Newark, NJ to face Rutgers-Newark for a 1:00 p.m. game.
