Hawks Down Pioneers, 3-0

New York, NY – Senior middle blocker Yasmine Daniels (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) recorded double-digit kills (14) for the third straight match to lift the Hawks over William Paterson University, 3-0 (30-24, 30-27, 30-21) in women's volleyball action Thursday evening at the Hunter Sportsplex in New York, NY.

Coming into the game 3-0 against CUNYAC opponents, the Pioneers (12-3) pushed Hunter (8-5) to the limit, taking commanding leads in all three games, but the Hawks were able to battle back and claim the victory in the end.

Junior outside hitter/setter Amanda Kamm (Dix Hills, NY/Hills West) tallied 21 assists for the second straight game and senior middle blocker Shanita Scott (Pelham, NY/Pelham Memorial) finished with a team high ten digs and chipped in four kills.

Sophomore middle hitter Kelly Helfrich (Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) each had a team high eights kills and seven blocks, and senior setter Dana Hansen (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) added 16 assists and nine kills for the Pioneers.

On Saturday, September 29, the Hawks will host Farmingdale State, Merchant Marine and Montclair State for the annual Hunter Invitational which is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. with the Hawks facing Montclair State and Farmingdale squaring off against Merchant Marine. All of Saturday's games will take place in the B4 Gymnasium in the Hunter Sportsplex.
