Jamaica, NY – Sophomore midfielder
German Dominguez (Corona, NY/Long Island City) netted his first goal of the season on a penalty kick at the 58th minute mark, giving the Hawks a 3-2 lead and eventual win over Baruch College in a key CUNY Athletic Conference match-up Saturday night at the Metropolitan Oval in Queens, NY.
Hunter freshman defender
Tutuboy Harris (Staten Island, NY/Martin), who played forward tonight, sent a shot over the Bearcat keeper's head from inside the box to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead 13 minutes into the game. Then, around the 30 minute mark, freshman forward
Anthony Intrabartolo (Glendale, NY/Christ the King) checked into the game and netted his fourth goal of the season to give Hunter a 2-0 lead.
The Hawks looked to be headed in the right direction with a 2-0 lead, however the Bearcats would fight back on the foot of rookie forward
Freddy Carrasco-Dance (East Elmhurst, NY/William C. Bryant) who scored at the end of the first half and then tied the game up at 2-2 in the 48th minute. The Hawks regained the lead on Dominguez' penalty kick and earned the win with aggressive defensive play to close out the second half.
Junior keeper
Noah Fessler (Metuchen, NJ/Metuchen) had a solid game in net for the Hawks, stopping six shots and allowed two goals. Sophomore
Nelson DiBastiano (Rego Park, NY/St. Francis Prep) made seven saves and gave up three goals for the Bearcats.
Tonight's victory gives the Hawks their first conference win and keeps them in the hunt for a playoff berth. They will look to continue their strive towards the playoffs when they return to action on Wednesday, October 3, hosting the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island for an 8:00 p.m. game at the Metropolitan Oval in Queens, NY.
