New York, NY – Senior guard
Marlon Smith (Bronx, NY/Archbishop Molloy) scored a game high 25 points, shooting 4-of-6 from downtown to help the Hawks break a four game skid by defeating the Cougars of Medgar Evers College 85-75 in overtime on Wednesday evening at the Hunter Sportsplex.
Medgar Evers, who opened up the game with an 11-0 run, found themselves trailing by five at halftime. However, they would make a surge in the second to force the extra periods where Hunter dominated the field, outscoring the Cougars 16-6.
All four of Hunter's starters finished in double figures, led by Smith and junior forward
Michael Dodd (Jamaica, NY/Hillcrest) who finished with 17 points and five rebounds.

Clover Essis (Brooklyn, NY/Boys & Girls) had a huge game for Medgar Evers, scoring 24 points and pulling down 11 boards. Also, sophomore guard
Kallai Sharpe (Brooklyn, NY/Morrow) added 21 points and five assists.
Tonight's victory improves Hunter to 4-2 in the CUNY Athletic Conference, which put them into a tie for first place in the North Division with Baruch. They will look to continue their winning ways on Friday when they host Lehman College for a 5:00 p.m. CUNYAC contest. In their last meeting, the Hawks walked out of the APEX with an 81-73 victory led by Dodd who netted 18 for Hunter.
