Frantz Millien (Rockland, NY/North Rockland) scored a team high 20 points, but an early deficit would plague the Hawks all game as they are handed their first CUNY Athletic Conference loss to the Brooklyn Bridges, 94-75 in men's basketball action Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn, NY.
Following a layup by junior forward
Joseph DeLuca (Maspeth, NY/Christ the King) that tied the game at 4-4, Brooklyn stifled the Hawks with a 17-2 run and never looked back. Despite trailing by as much as 24 points, the Hawks did close to within ten (48-38) by the end of the first half. The closest Hunter would get in the second half was seven points before Brooklyn pushed the lead back up to double-digits and took the eventually victory.
Brooklyn had five finish in double-figures led by
Daniel Nisbett (Staten Island, NY/Petrides) with 22 points.
DeLuca finished the game with 13 points, while freshman guard
Malcolm Kelly (Jamaica, NY/Christ the King) added 13 points of his own for the Hawks.
After tonight's loss, the Hawks are now 3-1 in the CUNYAC and 6-5 overall and will now look towards Monday when they host Connecticut College for a non-conference matchup schedule to tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
