New York, NY – Senior forward Frantz Millien (Rockland, NY/North Rockland) scored a team high 13 points and had seven rebounds in just 18 minutes of action to lead the Hawks to a 65-59 victory, their first of the season, over Manhattanville College in a non-conference men's basketball game Tuesday night at the Hunter Sportsplex.

Senior guards Emiljano Kinaj (Bronx, NY/John F. Kennedy) and Nicholas Flagg (Queens, NY/Cardozo) added 12 points each for the Hawks, with Kinaj shooting 4-of-6 from the field and dishing out six assists. Senior forward Maka Thomas (Queens Village, NY/Martin Van Buren) scored seven of his 11 points in the second half, including a jumper that put the hawks up 60-56 with 50 ticks left in the game.

The Valiants had three players finish in double figures, led by senior guard Wesly Wicks (Bronx, NY/St. Raymond) who shot 6-of-8 from the field and 5-of-7 from the free throw line for a game high 17 points and also pulled down six boards. Junior forward Angelo LaRoche (Brooklyn, NY/William E. Grady) shot a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line en route to 15 points, while sophomore forward Peter Mehmel (Queens, NY/Archbishop Molloy) had 12 points off the bench.

In a game that had 15 lead changes, neither team would gain a substantial lead for over 36 minutes. Following the 20th tie of the game, which occurred with 3:47 left to go, Flagg provided the Hawks with the final lead change of the game and sparking what would be an 11-5 run to close out the game. The Valiants final basket, a three-pointer, came with just five seconds left on the clock.

The Hawks (1-2) will return to action following the Holiday on Saturday, when they face the William Paterson University for a 1:00 p.m. non-conference bout at the Hunter Sportsplex.
