Box Score
New York, NY – Senior forward
Frantz Millien (Rockland, NY/North Rockland) has been on a tear this season, leading the Hawks in scoring for the fourth straight game, this time scoring a new career high 26 points on 12-of-14 shooting to lead the Hawks to a 77-65 win over the defending CUNY Athletic Conference champions of John Jay college Tuesday night at the Doghouse in New York, NY.
John Jay opened the game with a layup from Gary Brady (Bronx, NY/Martin Luther King) to take a 2-0 lead. However, that would be the Bloodhounds only lead of the game as the Hawks went on a quick 6-0 run and never looked back. Hunter outscored John Jay 40-32 after one half of play and 37-33 in the second half.
Senior forward
Joseph DeLuca (Maspeth, NY/Christ the King) scored 15 points with six boards in his second game back, while fellow senior forward
Maka Thomas (Queens Village, NY/Martin Van Buren) added 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting. The Hawk big men controlled this game, scoring 58 points as opposed to 38 from John Jay in the paint. Junior guard
Bobby Kiernan (Setauket, NY/Carle Place) also had a career high, tallying ten assists in the win.
Following tonight's victory, the Hawks improve to 2-3 on the season and are now 1-0 in the CUNYAC. Hunter will now return home on Friday for an 8:30 p.m. conference game with CCNY as part of the 2008 Homecoming Celebration.
